After the smashing success of ‘Arjun Reddy’ and ‘Kabir Singh,’ director Sandeep Reddy Vanga has made history again with his latest film, ‘Animal,’ starring Ranbir Kapoor. The movie has shattered box office records, becoming the highest-grossing A-rated film in Indian cinema history. With its scenes already achieving cult status online, an intriguing behind-the-scenes story has emerged.
Shahid Kapoor’s Near-Cameo in ‘Animal’
Initially, Vanga had planned an exciting crossover between Ranbir Kapoor’s character Ranvijay Singh and Shahid Kapoor’s Kabir Singh. According to sources, the film’s second half was to feature Shahid Kapoor as the doctor operating on an injured Ranvijay. “After Ranvijay is admitted to the hospital, Kabir Singh was to perform a successful surgery despite being intoxicated,” revealed a source.
A Memorable Exchange Between the Kapurs
Post-surgery, the script included a humorous interaction between the two characters. Grateful Ranvijay asks, “What’s your name?” to which Kabir replies, “The whole country knows my name, Kabir… Kabir Singh. And you?” Ranvijay responds confidently, “After today, the whole country will know my name too. Ranvijay. Ranvijay Singh.”
A Missed Opportunity Due to Scheduling Conflicts
The characters were supposed to bond and promise a future collaboration. The scene also included a comedic moment where Ranvijay decides to walk home naked in celebration. However, due to Shahid Kapoor’s last-minute scheduling conflicts, the scene was never filmed. Vanga opted not to replace Shahid’s cameo, believing some things are destined not to happen.
