A man caught upskirting at the British Museum has been sentenced to four months in jail. Jake Verano Gomez, a Colombian national with no fixed address, was observed by an off-duty police officer on August 19, secretly recording a video under a woman’s clothing. Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court heard that Gomez was detained on the spot with the help of museum staff.

Evidence Suggests Multiple Victims
Upon investigation, police discovered similar videos on Gomez’s phone, suggesting that several women visiting the museum that day may have been targeted. Authorities are now urging any other potential victims who were at the museum on August 19 to come forward.

Devastating Impact of Upskirting Crimes
Det Con Holly Wright emphasized the severe emotional toll these crimes have on women and girls, highlighting the importance of addressing such offenses promptly. The British Museum, the most-visited attraction in the UK last year, is now part of an ongoing investigation as police seek to identify all victims.
