President Shahabuddin Calls for National Unity and Urgent Aid for Flood Victims

President Mohammed Shahabuddin has issued a heartfelt appeal to the nation, urging everyone to come together in support of those suffering from the recent floods. Speaking at a Janmashtami event at Bangabhaban, the President emphasized the critical need for immediate assistance, highlighting the dire conditions faced by the flood-affected communities.

Call for Immediate Support

The President painted a grim picture of the situation, stating that people in the flood-hit areas are enduring extreme hardships. “These helpless people urgently require food, clean water, medicine, and safe shelter to survive,” he said, urging the public to contribute whatever they can. He assured that the government is fully committed to assisting those affected, with efforts already underway to provide necessary relief.

Promoting Religious Harmony

Addressing Hindu community leaders during the Janmashtami celebrations, President Shahabuddin also called on citizens to maintain and promote religious harmony. He stressed the importance of showcasing Bangladesh’s unity and cultural richness to the world, describing communal harmony as a cornerstone of the nation’s identity.

Strengthening National Unity

The President further underscored the need to strengthen the bonds of friendship and cooperation within society. “To move the country forward, we must forget our differences and work together, regardless of caste or religion,” he said. He reminded the audience that the constitution guarantees equal rights for all citizens, reinforcing the message of unity and collective progress.

The event was attended by approximately 700 individuals, including diplomats, senior journalists, and key government officials, who gathered to exchange greetings and celebrate the occasion.
