First Miss Japan of European Descent Steps Down

Karolina Shiino, Miss Japan 2024, has stepped down from her title after a scandal involving an affair with a married man. Shiino, the first Miss Japan of European descent, was implicated by the magazine Shukan Bunshun for having a relationship with a married doctor.

Revelations and Apologies

Initially, Shiino claimed she was unaware of the man’s marital status but continued the affair even after discovering the truth. Following the revelations, Shiino resigned, and the Miss Japan Association has decided to leave the title vacant for the rest of the year.

Public Apology and Contract Termination

Shiino also ended her contract with her agency, Free Wave, and issued a public apology on Instagram, expressing regret for the trouble caused and for betraying her supporters.
