A married couple suffered burn injuries in yet another gas cylinder explosion—this time in Gohail Bari, Ashulia, on the outskirts of Dhaka, on Sunday night, July 27. The victims, Mintu (35) and Babita (30), both garment workers, were rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital after the blast occurred while Babita was cooking.

Local residents reported hearing a loud bang before rushing in to help. Police officials from Ashulia Police Station confirmed that the explosion was caused by a household gas cylinder, a recurring issue across Bangladesh in recent months. This incident adds to a growing list of similar explosions reported across the country in 2025.

From Gazipur to Aftabnagar and Sutrapur, gas cylinder blasts have claimed multiple lives and left many others severely injured—raising concerns about poor safety standards, unregulated cylinder distribution, and lack of public awareness. Authorities have once again urged households to inspect their gas systems and ensure cylinders are sourced from verified dealers. However, with no national oversight mechanism in place, the public remains vulnerable to preventable domestic tragedies.
