Chinese Medical Team Departs After Treating Burned Children in Bangladesh

Sarakhon Report

The five-member Chinese medical team that arrived in Dhaka to treat burn victims of the Milestone School plane accident is set to return home today, July 31. The team landed in Bangladesh on the night of July 24 and began working alongside local doctors the following day.

Expertise Shared, Lives Touched

During their stay, the Chinese doctors performed complex surgeries, guided wound care, and shared techniques to prevent infection. They also collaborated with medical teams from Singapore and India to develop a unified treatment strategy for the injured children.

Moved by Bangladesh’s Warm Welcome

The delegation from Wuhan Third Hospital’s Burn and Plastic Surgery Department expressed their deep appreciation for the hospitality shown by the people of Bangladesh. In an interview with China Media Group (CMG), team leader and deputy director Liu Shuhua praised the country’s burn treatment system and medical professionals.

Innovation for Future Collaboration

Dr. Shuhua also highlighted an innovative treatment used in China—applying tilapia fish skin to burn wounds—a cost-effective and healing method that he hopes to introduce to Bangladeshi doctors in the future.

A Gesture Beyond Medicine

Analysts say China’s rapid response in a moment of crisis is a testament to the depth of Bangladesh-China relations. As the two nations mark 50 years of diplomatic ties, this act of medical solidarity is being hailed as a powerful symbol of mutual respect and humanitarian commitment.
