Burns from daily activities like cooking or ironing are common. While home remedies are often used, they can sometimes do more harm than good. Here are some common mistakes to avoid and effective ways to treat burns:

Avoid Popping Blisters

Popping burn blisters can increase the risk of infection. If a blister forms, let it heal naturally and avoid bursting it.

Say No to Toothpaste

Applying toothpaste to burns is a widespread myth. Toothpaste can increase the risk of infection. Instead, use an antimicrobial ointment or butter to soothe the burn.

Ice Is Not Ideal

Rubbing ice on burns might provide temporary relief but can damage skin cells. Avoid using ice or cold water; opt for room temperature water instead.

Limit Water Soaking

Soaking a burn in water for too long is not advisable. Doctors recommend not keeping the burn submerged for more than 10 minutes.

Proper Hand Hygiene

Burns from cooking usually affect the hands. It is crucial to wash hands thoroughly to avoid infections, especially if they have been exposed to salt, oil, or turmeric during cooking.
