BGB Soldier Injured by Border Mine Airlifted to CMH Dhaka

Sarakhon Report

Evacuation and medical status
A Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) trooper injured by a suspected landmine near the Myanmar frontier was airlifted to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka for advanced treatment. Officials said the patrol encountered the device on a rough trail close to the Tumbru–Reju area. The blast caused severe leg injuries; fellow soldiers administered first aid and called in an evacuation helicopter. Doctors in Dhaka are stabilizing the patient and assessing the extent of nerve and bone damage before surgery.
Security context and response
Recent months have seen sporadic blasts and small-arms fire along stretches of the Bandarban border amid fighting inside Myanmar. BGB has increased patrols, mapped vulnerable tracks, and circulated fresh protocols on movement in suspected mine belts. The home ministry requested tighter information-sharing with local communities, who often know which footpaths are risky after night movement by armed groups. Humanitarian agencies reiterated guidance for villagers to avoid unmarked forest trails and report suspicious objects. Authorities said demining support and awareness campaigns will be expanded in high-risk pockets.
