What to Watch This Week: Joya Ahsan’s New Film Leads a Packed OTT Lineup

Sarakhon Report

Bengali literary cinema, cybercrime thrillers and global releases dominate this week’s streaming schedule.

Bangladesh’s OTT viewers have a busy slate this week as multiple platforms roll out new films, thrillers and global releases. On local streaming service iScreen, the cybercrime thriller “Neelchakra” has launched after its theatrical run. The film explores the leaking of intimate videos of 16 young women over a two-year period, leading to several suicides and exposing an organised ring that weaponises private footage. Its storyline taps into widespread anxieties around digital safety and privacy in Bangladesh.

For Bengali audiences, one of the most anticipated releases is “Putulnacher Itikotha” on Hoichoi, based on Manik Bandopadhyay’s beloved novel. Joya Ahsan and Abir Chatterjee lead the cast as Kusum and Shashi, with Parno Mittra and others in supporting roles. Early viewers praise the film’s period setting, restrained storytelling and strong performances, especially from Joya. Literature lovers who grew up with the novel are driving much of the enthusiasm.

International platforms are also delivering major titles. Netflix has released season three of crime drama “Delhi Crime,” shifting its focus toward human trafficking and missing-person cases as Shefali Shah returns as officer Vartika Chaturvedi. Amazon Prime Video has added Anurag Kashyap’s film “Nishanchi,” a darkly comic story of twin brothers plotting a bank heist in 2000s Kanpur. Apple TV+ is streaming the award-winning documentary “Come See Me in the Good Night,” following poet and activist Andrea Gibson as they confront a cancer diagnosis and choose joy amid uncertainty.

For blockbuster fans, “Jurassic World Rebirth” has debuted on Jio Hotstar after its theatrical release. The latest entry in the dinosaur franchise stars Scarlett Johansson, with Mahershala Ali and Jonathan Bailey in major roles. For Bangladeshi households with multiple subscriptions—or friends sharing access—this week offers a rare mix: Bengali literary drama, local thrillers, Indian crime, global arthouse and Hollywood spectacle all landing together.
