The U.S. Embassy in Dhaka has welcomed the arrival of Bangladesh’s incoming ambassador to the United States, Brent T. Christensen. He arrived in the capital on January 12 along with his wife, Mrs. Deanne Dao, through Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.

The development was confirmed in a statement issued by U.S. Mission Spokesperson Poornima Rai. According to the statement, Ambassador-designate Christensen will assume responsibilities as the 19th U.S. ambassador to Bangladesh, marking a new phase in bilateral engagement between the two countries.

Speaking after his arrival, Christensen said it was an honor to represent the United States in Bangladesh. He expressed optimism about strengthening relations between the two nations, with a focus on advancing peace and prosperity across the region. He also noted that returning to Bangladesh held special meaning for both him and his wife, as the country carries many cherished memories for them.

The U.S. Embassy described the arrival as an important moment in diplomatic ties, signaling continued cooperation between Washington and Dhaka on regional and global issues.
