The global box office is witnessing major milestones as Superman and Jurassic World Rebirth dominate ticket sales. Warner Bros.’ reboot of the iconic superhero has crossed $406 million worldwide after just two weekends, with $235 million from North America and $171.8 million from international markets.
Although overseas performance has been softer than expected, Superman remains a critical launchpad for DC Studios’ new cinematic universe, which will expand in 2026 with Supergirl and Clayface, and a new Wonder Woman film in development. But competition is about to heat up as Marvel’s The Fantastic Four hits theaters next weekend.
Jurassic World Rebirth Roars Ahead
Universal’s Jurassic World Rebirth is proving to be a box office giant. In its third weekend, the film brought in $40.2 million from 82 territories, pushing its total to $647 million globally — including $371 million from overseas. The Scarlett Johansson-led dinosaur reboot is now one of only three Hollywood films to surpass $600 million this year, alongside Lilo & Stitch ($1.008 billion) and A Minecraft Movie ($955 million).
While the latest Jurassic installment hasn’t yet reached the billion-dollar heights of its predecessors, it remains a top earner in a competitive year.
Other Newcomers See Mixed Results
Paramount’s Smurfs musical opened to a modest $36 million globally, with Rihanna voicing Smurfette. Despite a star-studded cast and a $58 million budget, its performance suggests a struggle to spark a new franchise.
Sony’s I Know What You Did Last Summer sequel debuted with $24.6 million globally. Reuniting original stars Freddie Prinze Jr. and Jennifer Love Hewitt with a new generation of actors, the R-rated horror flick has generated modest returns but benefits from a low $18 million budget.
Meanwhile, Apple’s F1: The Movie has crossed $460 million globally — a new record for the tech giant’s film division. With $307.2 million from international markets, it has outperformed all of Apple’s previous theatrical releases, driven by global interest in Formula One and Brad Pitt’s star power.
