AI upgrades and tighter Google integration

OnePlus unveiled OxygenOS 16 with deep integration of Google’s Gemini assistant inside a personal vault called Mind Space. Users can now save scrolling screenshots and 60-second voice notes, then ask Gemini to plan tasks based on that context—like turning saved hotel and flight clippings into an itinerary. The update also adds more flexible lock-screen controls, smoother animations, and visual flourishes that echo liquid-glass effects. OnePlus says an open beta begins October 17, with a stable release first landing on the upcoming OnePlus 15 before rolling out to older models.

Ecosystem tweaks that reach beyond phones

Connectivity gets a lift through O-Plus Connect: tap to share photos between OnePlus and iPhone, mirror notifications to Apple Watch, and remote-control Macs and Windows PCs. The company also touts faster handoffs between devices and tighter Oppo ColorOS parity, reflecting shared code and features across the brands. For users, the pitch is practical: less rummaging for screenshots, more AI-assisted recall, and easier cross-device control. The test will be privacy and reliability—how well Mind Space protects sensitive content while keeping Gemini’s suggestions accurate and useful.
