Islami Andolan Bangladesh to Contest National Election Independently

Sarakhon Report

Islami Andolan Bangladesh has announced it will contest the upcoming national parliamentary election independently, formally ending its association with the Jamaat-led political alliance.

The decision was disclosed at a press conference held at the party’s central auditorium in Purana Paltan, Dhaka. Party spokesperson and joint secretary general Gazi Ataur Rahman said the move reflected the party’s strategic direction for the next election.

Nomination Process Underway

According to the party, 268 out of 270 nomination papers submitted by Islami Andolan candidates have so far been declared valid. Party leaders have been instructed not to withdraw nominations and to prepare fully for contesting the 13th parliamentary election.

Political observers say the decision signals the party’s intent to test its independent electoral strength and could alter calculations within religious-based politics ahead of the polls.
