A special musical program, Bhashar Gaan, has been produced for Bangladesh Television (BTV) to commemorate International Mother Language Day on February 21. The program, set to air at 10 PM after the English news bulletin, will feature performances by renowned singers Rizia Parveen and Dithi Anwar.
Musical Tributes to the Language Movement
In Bhashar Gaan, Rizia Parveen will perform Amar Ekush Shurjo Jhoro Din, a song written by Khoshnoor Alamgir and composed by Mohammad Ishak. Meanwhile, Dithi Anwar will sing Bornomala Amar Bornomala, with lyrics by Munshi Wadud and music by Mohammad Ishak.
The show is part of BTV’s own production and has been curated under the research and direction of Piyal Hasan. The singers expressed their excitement about being part of this significant tribute to the Bengali language and culture.
By blending music with history, Bhashar Gaan aims to honor the sacrifices of the Language Movement and celebrate the richness of the Bengali language.
