Jatiya Party Chairman GM Quader has expressed deep sorrow and outrage over the brutal mob killing of Lal Chand, also known as Sohag, near Mitford Hospital in the capital. In a statement issued today, he condemned the violence and urged authorities to take decisive action against the perpetrators.

Rising Mob Violence Sparks Alarm

Quader voiced grave concern over the growing trend of mob violence across the country. Referring to recent statistics from Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK), he cited that 174 people were killed nationwide in mob attacks between August 2024 and May 2025. The data shows alarming regional breakdowns: 80 deaths in Dhaka, 29 in Chattogram, 17 in Barisal, and others scattered across the remaining divisions.

“This is not the country our martyrs envisioned in 1971 or during the 2024 mass uprising,” Quader remarked, adding that hatred, revenge, and violence among citizens have reached an unprecedented level.

Legacy of Communal Harmony at Risk

He warned that such lawlessness is eroding Bangladesh’s long-standing tradition of communal harmony. Despite repeated warnings from the Home Ministry, military advisers, and law enforcement agencies, the killings continue.

Quader called on all relevant ministries and the security establishment to launch effective and urgent action to identify and prosecute those behind the violence, emphasizing that citizens now live in fear.
