The U.S. Embassy in Dhaka announced in a press release that Bangladesh’s three leading soybean crushing companies—Meghna Group, City Group, and Delta Agro—have pledged to purchase $1 billion worth of soybeans from the United States over the next 12 months.

This historic agreement has been signed with the U.S. Soybean Export Council (USSEC), which represents the international interests of American soybean farmers. The move indicates a rapidly expanding market in Bangladesh for U.S. agricultural products and is expected to further strengthen agricultural and trade relations between the two nations.

Statement from the U.S. Chargé d’Affaires

According to the press release, U.S. Chargé d’Affaires Tracey Jacobson stated, “Bangladesh is becoming an increasingly important partner in the U.S. export market. With this new agreement, we expect soybean sales from the United States to Bangladesh to triple.”
