America Week 2026 to Be Celebrated Across Bangladesh for the 250th Anniversary of U.S. Independence
The U.S. Embassy in Bangladesh has announced a week-long celebration of “America Week 2026” to mark the 250th anniversary of the United States’ independence. The program will be held in four cities across the country, including Dhaka.
According to a statement released in Dhaka on Tuesday (June 30), the initiative is part of U.S. President Donald Trump’s “Freedom 250” campaign. The week-long celebration will take place in Dhaka, Chattogram, Sylhet, and Rajshahi.
Showcasing American Culture, History, and Values
U.S. Ambassador Brent T. Christensen will take part in a series of events across Bangladesh to highlight American culture, history, and values. The initiative aims to strengthen cultural ties and deepen mutual understanding between the people of Bangladesh and the United States.
Highlights of the Celebration
One of the major attractions of America Week 2026 will be the “Freedom 250 Concert,” featuring performances by the brass band of the U.S. Army’s 25th Infantry Division.
An “American Fair” will also be held at Justice Shahabuddin Ahmed Park in Dhaka, where visitors will be able to experience various aspects of American culture and heritage through a range of interactive activities.
In Sylhet, the “Founders Museum” exhibition will be officially launched. The U.S. Embassy also said that additional cultural programs and public events will be organized at various locations across the country throughout the week.
A Week of Activities Across Multiple Cities
According to the embassy, the seven-day program will include a wide range of cultural and public engagement activities in four cities. One of the main goals is to introduce Bangladeshi audiences to American history, the country’s tradition of independence, and its cultural diversity.
The U.S. Embassy in Bangladesh said visitors attending the events throughout the week will have the opportunity to learn more about the United States while helping to strengthen the relationship between the people of the two countries.
