Sunbathe

All the street dogs are barking,
A deep dark spreads through the street.
Foxes lurk around the huts,
The same deep dark cloaks them all.
Owls blink their restless eyes,
Darkness thickens with every breath.
There are no tigers in the forest.
Wolves feast on rotten meat.
The lion has abandoned its land,
Birds sit silently in their nests.
Only the buds on the trees still hold hope—
A promise that the green leaves
Will dance with the morning breeze,
As the sun bathes in a sea of deep red blood.
