Strange white blobs have washed up on the beaches of Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, leaving beachgoers and experts equally confused. The Canadian Coast Guard even cordoned off parts of the North Atlantic coastline to investigate these strange objects, which range in size from small lumps to larger, plate-sized masses.

David McGrath, a local resident who first saw the blobs, said, “It’s the first time I’ve ever seen anything like it, and I’ve lived right here in Placentia Bay my whole life.” The blobs were described as sticky with a texture like uncooked dough or foam. Some individuals also noted a peculiar smell, similar to paint.

Philip Grace, a beachcomber who encountered a blob, shared photos with a Facebook group for local beachcombers, sparking numerous humorous comments. Many wondered aloud if the blobs could be anything from whale remains to alien waste.

Officials Investigate the Blobs’ Origins

Scientists and environmental officers from Environment and Climate Change Canada gathered samples for analysis and conducted multiple surveys along the coast. So far, they have not identified either the blobs’ origin or substance, though some evidence suggests it could be plant-based.

Christopher Reddy, a senior scientist at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, emphasized the uncertainty, saying, “There is no one telltale piece of information that’s going to slam-dunk this.” In the meantime, officials are urging people to be cautious if they encounter these mysterious blobs.
