Imtu Ratish, a beloved Bangladeshi actor, hailing from Hali city in Chattogram, is recognized for his talent in acting and hosting. Known for his down-to-earth charm, he prefers to introduce himself simply as an actor, and his audience’s admiration is his biggest reward. Born to Wahid Ullah Sarkar and Shahina Akter, he entered the entertainment industry under the name Imtu Ratish. His debut in media began as the host of Cine Hits on Ekushey TV, a role he has held for 18 years, with only a brief break.
Imtu’s acting journey began with Tomar Chithi, directed by Parvez Amin, where he starred alongside Monalisa. He made his film debut with Nargis Akter’s Joybati Koinnar Mon, while his first commercially released film was Ananya Mamun’s Abar Bosonto. He also appeared in Jodi Kintu Tobuo by Shihab Shaheen and gained recent attention with his performance in Himel Ashraf’s Priyotoma, where he played Shakib Khan’s friend, earning widespread praise.
Imtu’s upcoming movie Dord, directed by Ananya Mamun and set to release soon, sees him in the role of Jon. He’s equally enthusiastic about Mob Star, directed by Rukaiya Jahan Chamak, awaiting its release. Alongside his work in cinema, he’s a regular face in popular TV series, including Golmaal by Kaiser Ahmed, Haler Hawa by Aditya Joni, Smritir Alpana Aki by Murad Parvez, and Mayer Songshar by Mainul Hasan Khokon.
Imtu shares that his fans’ positive feedback and connection with his performances inspire him to grow in his craft. His humility and love for continuous self-discovery through diverse roles resonate with his fans. “My fans’ support motivates me to explore new characters and reinvent myself. I am grateful and satisfied with where I am in my career,” he says. Imtu’s close friends include fellow artist Alangkar Chowdhury, and he looks up to senior actors Subrata, Shilpi Sarkar Apu, and Momena Chowdhury. He is married to Romana Shaon and has two siblings, Imran and Nipa.
