Michelle Yeoh, the celebrated actor known for her role in Everything Everywhere All at Once, recently shared a deeply personal aspect of her life. In an interview with The Times, the 62-year-old revealed that her inability to have children is her “biggest sadness,” though she harbors no regrets about the choices she made.
A Career Sacrificed for Love and Family
Yeoh, who married Hong Kong entrepreneur Dickson Poon in 1988, made the difficult decision to step away from her flourishing acting career. At the time, she was celebrated for performing her own stunts in Hong Kong action films. “It was my choice,” Yeoh explained. “If I wanted this to work, I had to give it my all. I’d had a good career, a good run of what I was doing.”
In her late 20s, Yeoh felt ready to prioritize family over her profession, saying, “That is the time when you decide what is important. I really wanted to start a family.”
A Heartbreaking Discovery
Despite her dedication to this new chapter in her life, Yeoh soon learned she was unable to have children, a revelation that marked one of the most challenging periods of her life. However, she maintains a positive outlook, emphasizing that she made the best decisions she could at the time.
