Former U.S. President Donald Trump has accused Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky of prolonging the war with Russia, suggesting that a peace deal could be reached quickly if Ukraine were willing to negotiate. He also criticized Zelensky for not showing enough gratitude for the billions in aid provided by the U.S., claiming that Europe should be contributing more.

“He Better Not Be Right About That”

Trump referenced a statement reportedly made by Zelensky to the Associated Press, where the Ukrainian leader suggested the war could drag on for years. Trump dismissed the idea, warning that such a prolonged conflict would be unacceptable.

Calls for a Quick Deal with Russia

When asked about Russia’s claim that his foreign policy aligns with their vision, Trump insisted that peace talks are the only solution. “It takes two to tango,” he said, arguing that Ukraine and Russia should negotiate immediately.

Trump further implied that certain individuals might be preventing a resolution, warning, “If somebody doesn’t want to make a deal, that person won’t be around for long.” He suggested that both Russia and the Ukrainian people are ready for peace, but Zelensky’s unwillingness to compromise is keeping the war going.
