G M Quader, Chairman of Bangladesh’s Jatiyo Party, has congratulated Suvendu Adhikari on his historic election victory and assumption of office as the 9th Chief Minister of West Bengal.

In a formal message issued on May 11, Quader described the development as a landmark moment in West Bengal’s political history. He noted that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had formed its first-ever government in the state and said the people of West Bengal had placed their trust in Suvendu Adhikari’s leadership after years of political struggle and public engagement.

Quader also highlighted Adhikari’s political background and family legacy. He referred to Adhikari’s father, Sisir Kumar Adhikari, a former Union Minister and long-serving Member of Parliament, saying his decades of public service in Purba Medinipur helped shape a strong tradition of leadership within the family.

The Jatiyo Party chairman praised Suvendu Adhikari’s own political journey, mentioning his role in the Nandigram movement, his time in the Legislative Assembly, and his years as a Member of Parliament. According to Quader, Adhikari’s career reflected resilience and a close connection with ordinary people.

Quader also underlined the importance of the relationship between Bangladesh and West Bengal. He said the two sides share deep cultural, linguistic, and human ties rooted in centuries of shared history and geography.

Expressing hope for stronger cooperation in the future, Quader said he expected Adhikari’s tenure to create new opportunities for constructive engagement between Bangladesh and West Bengal in areas such as trade, culture, and regional goodwill.

He added that the Jatiyo Party has always supported the welfare of people living on both sides of the border and expressed confidence that people-centered leadership in West Bengal would help strengthen bilateral understanding and cooperation in the years ahead.
