SpaceX plans to send five uncrewed Starships to Mars in two years, Musk says

Reuters,
SpaceX CEO Elon Musk announced on Sunday that the company plans to launch five uncrewed Starship missions to Mars within the next two years. The success of these uncrewed missions will determine the timeline for the first crewed mission, which Musk indicated could happen in four years. However, any setbacks could delay human missions by another two years. Musk has previously changed his timeline for Mars missions, but with recent advancements, including a successful Starship landing demonstration, optimism remains high for future milestones.

NASA’s Artemis 3 mission, using SpaceX’s Starship for the first crewed moon landing, has been delayed to September 2026, pushing back previous plans for late 2025.

Mehta, who left Netflix in 2020, welcomed the investigation and is pursuing her own lawsuit against the company in the U.S. for wrongful termination and discrimination. Netflix has denied any knowledge of an investigation by Indian authorities.

Can eating seaweed help prevent Parkinson’s disease? A Japanese study suggests it does

SCMP,

A team of researchers from Osaka Metropolitan University in Japan has discovered that eating brown algae seaweed may help prevent Parkinson’s disease due to its neuroprotective properties.

The study, published in Nutrients, shows that antioxidants in the seaweed species Ecklonia cava could guard against the neurodegenerative effects of Parkinson’s, which is caused by the depletion of dopamine-producing neurons. Researchers hope that these findings could lead to new preventive treatments for Parkinson’s disease.

China’s youth unemployment hits fresh high amid economic slowdown

CNBC,

China’s youth unemployment rate reached a record 18.8% in August, according to the National Bureau of Statistics. The surge in joblessness among people aged 16 to 24 comes amid an economic slowdown and restrictive hiring practices. Experts attribute the rise to a contraction in industries like real estate, finance, and IT, which previously absorbed many graduates.

Companies are hesitant to hire due to the costs and legal challenges involved in firing employees, further exacerbating the issue. Despite these challenges, the overall urban unemployment rate across all age groups stood at 5.3% in August.
