Jannatul Ferdous Tumpa is the daughter of AKM Zillur Rahman and Mrs. Tayebunnesa from Dinajpur. She is a very fashion-conscious and modern individual. Those who have seen her up close or spoken to her are immediately impressed by her personality. While studying for a BSc in Engineering at BRAC University, she started working at Banglalink. From 2009, she worked continuously for four to five years at both Banglalink and Grameenphone.
In 2014, she began her own jewelry design venture, establishing the business ‘Goyna Baksho’. For almost three years, she focused solely on the jewelry business. When she went live to promote her jewelry, her stylish outfits and fashion sense would catch others’ attention, drawing them in. As a result, from 2016 to 2017, she began studying what other products could be added to ‘Goyna Baksho’ alongside jewelry. After 2017, clothing from various renowned Pakistani brands found a place at ‘Goyna Baksho’. Whenever she went live to sell these clothes, they would sell out in moments, especially online. Overnight, ‘Goyna Baksho’s reputation spread even further.
At present, Tumpa has three showrooms for ‘Goyna Baksho’—at Jamjam Tower in Uttara, Simanto Shomvar in Dhanmondi, and Mirpur-1 in Dhaka. However, she mentioned that sarees are still sold exclusively online, though there are plans to stock sarees in the showrooms as well. Many people often comment during her live sessions, saying, “Sister, you are so beautiful, so smart. You could easily become a model or actress.” When asked about this, Tumpa, the Chairperson of ‘Goyna Baksho’, responded, “If acting or modeling in advertisements is something creative, I might consider it. But I have no desire to get involved in these fields commercially.”
For now, ‘Goyna Baksho’ is limited to Dhaka, but Tumpa is interested in expanding its reach. Speaking about her future plans and dreams, Tumpa said, “I want to continue running my business with honesty and dedication. The respect and love I receive because of my business are what I want to keep for a lifetime. As long as there is interest and respect from customers for my brand and for me, I will continue to stand by them.”
Tumpa has one son, Arham. She has two sisters, Shiuli and Suravi, and one brother, Nishan.
