Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman has said that the Bangladesh Nationalist Party and Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami must work together for the next five years to restore a stable and favorable environment in the national interest. He made the remarks on Thursday.

Dr Shafiqur Rahman said the two parties have worked together in the past to benefit the country and that this cooperation will continue. He added that the BNP leadership has also expressed its desire to work together in the interest of the beloved country, and Jamaat shares the same expectation.

The Jamaat Ameer made these comments while speaking to journalists after a meeting with BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman. The meeting was held on Thursday evening at the BNP chairperson’s office in Gulshan.

He said the discussion focused on restoring a stable, positive environment in the country over the next five years. He noted that national stability can be ensured if everyone works together in the national interest.

Dr Shafiqur Rahman further said that the Jamaat and BNP will sit for discussions again after the upcoming national election and the referendum scheduled to be held on February 12, 2026. He stated that, after the election and before the formation of a government, decisions will be made through open-minded discussions, with the national interest as the priority.

He added that this continued dialogue will play an important role in future political cooperation and in safeguarding the national interest.
